Meet Treasure Marie Jones- Jenkins Interview
Tamluvstowrite: Treasure thank you so much for sitting down and allowing me to talk with you for a moment.
Treasure: You're welcome. I am kind of nervous you know.
Tamluvstowrite: No need to be my questions are basics. Tell me about yourself?
Treasure: (She takes a deep breath and blows out air) Well I was born and raised on the East Side of Buffalo, NY. My father is a retired police officer and my mother was a homemaker. I graduated from Canisus High School with honors then I went to Buffalo State and obtain my degree in Social work I now work for the Department of Social Services preventive placement program working with families so their children are not place foster care.
Tamluvstowrite: I want to know about you the person. According to the author you are married and no children yet.
Treasure: Yes I am to Jeremy Jenkins he is also a police officer like my Dad.
Tamluvstowrite: Wow! So how long have you two been married?
Treasure: Three years.
Tamluvstowrite: (She notices the bruise on Treasure face.) I don't mean to be funny but you have what looks like a bruise on your face. What happen?
Treasure: (she twirls her hair and pulls it to cover her face) Oh that old cut is from ten years ago.
Tamluvstowrite: No I’m talking on the left side of your cheek the reddish bruise. It looks like a hand print.
Treasure: Um, my make-up gives me this rash that looks like a bruise and a hand print.
Tamluvstowrite: ( I twist my lip and squint my eyes.) Oh it looks like someone hit you.
Now can we talk about your past relationship with Blue?
Treasure: (she blushes and her face lights up) Blue and I met when he was fifteen years old at his mother's funeral. We where friends first and then he became my boyfriend. We where together for ten years and then when he went to prison we just separated.
Tamluvstowrite: He is incarcerated from what I understand you have not seen him since you where twenty -five. What happen?
Treasure: (Her husband Jeremy Jenkins walks in and sits next to Treasure) I don't want to talk about that. I am married woman now it doesn't matter. (She wipes the tears forming in her eyes).
Tamluvstowrite: Jeremy glad you could join us. Can I interview today?
Jeremy: No. Treasure isn't allowed to talk about Blue it is disrespectful towards me as her husband.
Tamluvstowrite: I will respect that but I have to ask this. Treasure do you ever wonder if Blue is okay? I mean damn ten years is a long time to spend with someone then you just up and abandon him?
Treasure: I didn’t abandon him he went to prison. I do wonder often but Blue knows how to take care of himself.
Jeremy: (He balls his fist and raises his voice)Treasure don't answer another question about Blue and that an order.
Treasure: (she flinches and jumps at the base of his voice) No more questions okay. I can't disrespect my husband. (Jeremy walks out the door)
Tamluvstowrite: (I whisper) is that Bruise on your face because of him?
Treasure: (She whispers) I’m fine it’s the make-up but off the record. He just doesn't like Blue and me talking about him. I think of Blue everyday and I pray for him. He needs to know that and I have never stopped loving him.
